Talking How to make your hen house look pretty

An interesting idea, but a great one I believe.

I have recently moved house. I now have more space to keep chickens again. I didnt want to have to go out and buy a new hen house, so I have salvaged my old one! What a fantastic idea that was!

So what I did was sand down my old chicken coop.
I then purchased some Montana Spray Paint. This spray paint is far better than any spray paint I have tried before, the colour came out beautifully.
I didn't prime it, but I would recommend you do so as it took quite a few coats. I'm sure an Acrylic or Plain White spray paint, would have saved me a lot of time and effort, if I did this first.
I then applied the paint. VERY easy to do! I literally just sprayed it on, waiting 1 day between coats.
I then applied a heavy duty varnish from Homebase, which seems to do the trick.
Hey presto, a brand new hen house!

I am so pleased with the result, honestly I recommend it!

I bought my Montana Spray paint from the following site, its got all the colours you could ask for, it was quick delivery too.

I met a lady who had brought a hen house from us many years ago, she was going to send some pics but never did, it sounded lovely.
To brighten it up she painted it, and then made a chicken stencil and painted little chicken on it.

    Smile Painting my hen house

If only I were artistic I would like to paint my draft board with a picture of the cartoon you have on the website for the draft board but alas I lack the skills. Perhaps that's an idea for you Cindy - you could ship them with a stencil and then the ungifted could colour in the image. At least I wouldn't colour over the edges as I did in my younger days. I'm really toying with the idea of getting a stencil kit (otherwise I know from experience the writing will be not only crooked but I'll also run out space for the last letter or so) and stencilling something like, "Laurel Cottage Free Range Enterprises" or similar. Laurel Cottage being the name of our humble abode.

We should get Artychik to do something, prehaps there is something starting to bud here?
We did chicken, goose and duck shapes, at our very early shows to let people know what the houses were for, we called them ridge furniture, we actually had people arguing over the house with the cut out on the top if we sold them off at the end of the show!!
Slightly different but we also had a lady that wanted a L705 painted as a Hansel and Gretal house for her childrens party it was hidden in her woods for the children to find, she supplied the artist who painted it with candy twists and cup cakes!!

Its good that have explained it but it is also better if you place a couple of pictures for that so we can easily understand...

Hi Steve, it was such a long time ago, I wouldn't know where to even look for the photo's but if I come accross them I will put them on here! I am searching the boxes full of photo's for a picture of our daughter Tracey who when she was tiny at a show was sitting in a Bedgbury 802 sucking her thumb! She is now in her early 30's and married.
